Helmet-a-Day Giveaway Promoting Bike Safety

Herndon lawyer offering helmets, educating students on dangers of cycling without a helmet.

Herndon residents are likely seeing more lids on local children riding their bicycles, due to a donation from an area lawyer.

Avid cyclist Doug Landau, a Herndon injury lawyer, visited Herndon Elementary and handed out bike helmets to sixth graders as part of his "Helmet a Day" campaign — giving away 365 helmets this year.

Landau also spoke with the children about the dangers of biking without a helmet and traumatic brain injuries. Local police offers were also on hand to help show students the proper way to wear a helmet.
