Hutchison Elementary Kids Get a Happy Christmas

A huge donation of new shoes and gift cards was made to the school this week.

Children at Hutchison Elementary in Herndon started off their week with smiles on their faces and a spring in their step when local officials and volunteers played Santa for the day, and delivered an assortment of presents to the school.

The presents included an assortment of brand new pairs of shoes, and gift cards, which were donated by local residents and members of the Council for the Arts.

"The gifts demonstrate the generosity of the community in supporting needy students attending Hutchison Elementary School in Herndon," participants said.

Taking part in the delivery were Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust, Jennifer Boysko, and Signe Freidrichs and Cesar de Aguila from the Council for the Arts of Herndon.

This is the fifth year the gift drive has been held.

Supervisor Foust said he had a wonderful time visiting the school and thanked everyone in the community who made a donation to the drive.

"I am so pleased to take part again in this wonderful and worthy cause,” he said. "Thank you to all of the individuals who brought in donations for our shoe and gift card drive. I really enjoyed meeting all of the great children at Hutchison
Elementary School and being able to give them your donations."
