Hop On a Motorcycle to Benefit Fraternal Order of Police

The annual Poker Run is a 95-mile motorcycle ride benefiting the Greater Herndon Fraternal Order of Police and the charitable local causes it supports.

The weather should be perfect for the morning this year's annual Poker Run, benefiting the Greater Herndon Fraternal Order of Police, coming up this Saturday, Sept. 21. Come on out before the weather rolls in Saturday afternoon!

With the wind in your hair and the feel of the road just inches below your feet, you can help benefit worthy charitable causes right here in the community with your participation or sponsorship.

The member of honor for this year's Poker Run will be Sgt. Phil Farley, a decorated former member of the Herndon Police Department.

The event starts at 8 a.m. this Saturday, with a continental-style breakfast at the Herndon Department of Public Works, located behind the old Herndon Police Station at 1479 Sterling Road.

The first bike will depart at 8:30 a.m., with the last bike out by 9 a.m.

The participants will travel 95 miles, making stops in Gainesville, Marshall, Winchester, Upperville and Middleburg before they finish back in Herndon, where the day will conclude with lunch and the awards ceremony with members of Herndon Lodge #64.

The cost to participate is $20 per rider, or $10 per ride-along, if you register by Sept. 9. After that date, the price will go up to $25 and $15. Every participant gets breakfast, lunch and a commemorative t-shirt.

The FOP thanks its sponsors, Manassas Honda Kawasaki Susuki, Colgan PowerSports, Hardcore Choppers, 381 Elden Street and Capsalis Fitzgerald PLC, for participating in the 2013 Poker Run.
