Donate Blood While Scoring Free Prizes and Meeting Sports Players

This huge annual blood drive takes place in Sterling on Saturday.

Inova Blood Services is throwing a summer block party on Saturday, and you’re invited.

From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 20, Inova will host a blood drive event at their office in the Dulles Town Center, located at 45745 Nokes Blvd, Suite 160 in Sterling.

The event will feature appearances from former Washington Capitals players, and include giveaways such as hockey t-shirts, drawstring backpacks, a signed Steve Olesky player card and more.

Donors will have the chance to meet Capitals alumni and left-wings Paul Mulvey and Errol Rausse. Rausse played with the team from 1979-1983 and Mulvey played with the team from 1978-1981.

Summer is one of the most difficult times for blood donations, said Rebecca Manarchuck, marketing manager for Inova Blood Donor Services - but the block party attracts a sizable number of donors and their families.
