Wesley Seminary Speaker Series at Floris UMC

During the month of November in worship, Floris UMC will be exploring the series, "Psalms: The Language of Life." In connection with this sermon series we invite you to join Dr. Denise Dombkowski Hopkins, Professor of Biblical Theology at Wesley Theological Seminary for a 3 session course entitled. "On Life’s Road with the Psalms: Naming and Claiming Our Relationship with God.” How can the Psalms help us to navigate the joys and messiness of life? They offer us imaginative metaphors to help us name our diverse experiences and connect to God and one another.  Each Wednesday session will begin at 7pm and all are welcome.

November  7 -- “The Power of Metaphor”. We will investigate two central Psalm metaphors: pathway and God as refuge.  Please bring one or two magazines that we can rip up for a communal exercise.

November 14 -- “Hymns to God As Creator For the Good Times”.  The power of praise.
