Join the Herndon Environmental Network (HEN) as we remove invasive plants from Runnymede Park in Herndon.
We will remove Japanese Stiltgrass (Microstegium vimineum), Autumn Olive (Eleagnus umbellata), and Multiflora Rose (Rosa multiflora). The removal activity will be preceded by the "Native Plant of the Month" talk. For the month of June, we selected the Common Paw Paw (Asimina triloba), a fruit tree native to the Eastern United States. We will meet at 10:00 AM at the parking lot (for a map, see http://goo.gl/maps/wGNHu). From there, we will walk to the Paw Paw patch for a brief talk on this interesting tree. We will continue with the invasive removal, and work until 11:30 or so.
Please bring work gloves and wear long sleeves/long pants to protect you from poison ivy. Bring tools if you can.
