I'm Loving MOM's Organic Market in Herndon

MOM's Organic Market in Herndon has a wide variety of organic and healthy foods. We're a lucky community to have such a fantastic store right at our finger tips!

One of my favorite parts of being a Realtor is playing tour guide to people just moving to this area. I think a huge part of buying a home is location, location, location and not just the physical home you live in.

Well, this area has so much to offer I sometimes don’t know where to start. I could go on for hours talking about Great Falls Park, Lake Anne Plaza in Reston, Claude Moore Colonial Farm, Skyline Drive, Historic Downtown Herndon, everything and anything in Washington D.C., etc.

I very much think it’s important to emphasize local businesses and restaurants because these places will be a part of their every day lives. That being said… in Herndon I tell people about Great Harvest Bread Company, Tortilla Factory (which is no longer in existence—I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to that fact) and now MOM’s Organic Market in the Kmart shopping center.

MOM’s eighth store offers residents of Herndon, Reston and surrounding communities a source for 100 percent organic produce and an incredible selection of organic grocery and wellness items. Set aside at least an hour to browse this store the first time you visit. There are so many things to see, from the produce to bulk herbs, teas, homeopathic medicines, natural home care products, gluten free this, vegan that. They also have two electric car charging stations available outside.

A friend of mine who lives in Herndon has a vegan 14-year-old daughter and another who has wheat and gluten allergies. These kinds of special diets would be nearly impossible to sustain with out stores like Whole Foods, Trader Joes and MOM’s Organic Market. She especially loves MOM’s because of the wide variety of goods and products. She can buy everything from vegan ice cream, pizza, meat (I’ve tried it. It’s not bad), bread, cereal, homeopathic medicine and so on.

I am not a vegan or vegetarian, but basically am not a fan of eating meat. It was great to go there and explore a variety of food options. I’ve since bought different types of soy products and cooked them up for the family and it actually tasted good! I keep going back for more and with each visit come back with something new to try. The friendly employees of MOM’s are always helpful and patient, explaining the many different products to me.

So, this is your homework for this month. Go to—MOM’s Organic Market and purchase some type of food you never knew existed. While you’re at it, check out Great Harvest Bread Company in downtown Herndon, Lake Anne Plaza in Reston, Great Falls Park and check out the cherry blossoms in Washington DC. That’s enough for now. I’ll give you more places to check out next month!
