Weekend Planner: Free Basketball Clinic, Party on the Farm and More

Here's what's happening in Herndon this weekend.


• Free Basketball Clinic - A free basketball clinic for those in grades 5-8 will include a review basketball mechanics for ball handling, passing and shooting, as well as instruction on rebounding defenses and screens.  

• Addiction Incorporated with SLHS PTSA - Join the South Lakes PTSA for a screening of "Addiction Incorporated," which explores how tobacco companies addict the human brain. Sign up for the number of seats needed, no physical tickets necessary. Follow the link for more info.


• Party on the Farm! Open House - The Party on the Farm! An open House for Education, Entrepreneurship and the Environment at Frying Pan Farm Park is sponsored by Three Birds. Hear about area organizations that do work in the community. Participants include the Herndon Environmental Network, Bethesda Green and more.

• Saturday Story Time - Head to Barnes and Noble for Saturday Story Time. Saturday Story Time events may include storytellers dressed up as characters and other activities. 


• Forks Over Knives with HEN - The Herndon Environmental Network Winter Film Series presents a screening of the film "Forks Over Knives." The event will include a discussion after that explores health claims about processed and animal-based foods. 

• CenterStage: Brian Sanders' JUNK - Brian Sanders' choreography combines traditional dance theater with inventiveness and physicality with his found objects and inventions. 


• Color: Bold & Vibrant - This colorful abstract display of work by local artists is open through Jan. 20. Participating artists in the exhibit include Andrea Cybyk, Mary Ellen Mogee, and M. Jane Johnson. 

• Diva Central Dress Drive - Reston Community Center is collecting prom and formal dresses, shoes, jewelry, hand bags, shawls and other accessories to help provide a fantastic prom experience to teenage girls in the area. Drop off items at RCC Hunters Woods.
