Hurricane Season is Not Over

Print out this guide with phone numbers and other information before the next storm.

We’d all like to think we’re in the clear for 2011, but the eastern United States is just starting to enter the peak of the hurricane season. Officially, the season starts June 1 and continues through November 30 every year, with most hurricanes forming between mid-August and late October.

Hurricane Irene was not as strong as some thought it would be in our area, but it still caused power outages, localized flooding and communications outages across Northern Virginia. It served as a reminder to be prepared and have emergency and other useful information at the ready.

Patch has created a short, printer-friendly guide for Fairfax County residents with phone numbers and websites to help get started and handle electric outages, water emergencies, communications (phone, cable and web) outages and more.
