Still time to enter Herndon's Dress Up Herndon for the Holidays and Patch's Deck the House contests.

This weekend's annual Holiday Model Train Show will take place both Saturday and Sunday for children of all ages as well as kids-at-heart to enjoy.

The display will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Herndon Municipal Center, 777 Lynn St.

Model trains will be set up throughout the upper floor of the HMC for viewing. Additionally, the red W&OD caboose adjacent to the building will be open for tours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Herndon Depot Museum on Lynn Street will also be open for tours throughout the event.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 571-323-5204.

Another fast approaching Herndon Hometown Holidays event is Dress Up Herndon For the Holidays. The neighborhood decoration contest takes place throughout the Town of Herndon.

The Cultivating Community Initiative judges and awards homes based on categories such as traditional, whimsical, lights categories and more. There's still time to dress up homes and enter.

Nominations should be submitted to information@herndon-va.gov or to 703-435-6800 extension 2084 by Friday, Dec. 14. Judging takes place the evening of Monday, Dec. 17.

While you're nominating holiday-themed homes, take a moment to enter Patch's Deck the House contest. First place gets $100,000 for their local schools as well as up to $500 toward their December electric bill. Click here for more details.
