Five Things to Know This Week in Herndon

Give back on MLK Day, Tomfoolery opens this week, FroZenYo coming to Herndon.

1. Those looking for a way to give back to the community with their family can head to Volunteer Fairfax's Give Together: A Family Volunteer Day. Attendees will work on service projects with various nonprofits around the region. A Give Together event will be held at the Herndon Senior Center from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday. 2. Herndon's Montessori Country School is looking for donations and sponsors for its spring 2013 online auction. The auction, benefiting the school, will run for three weeks from April 28 to May 19.

3. Nominations are being accepted until February 4 for the Fairfax County Volunteer Service Award. Those making a difference in their community in Fairfax County can be recognized for the work they're doing. Click here for guidelines and nomination information.

4. The Elden Street Players production of Tomfoolery opens this week. The satirical musical revue runs from Jan. 25 through Feb. 16, including a Valentine's Day show. Click here for information on tickets. 

5. Another new business is coming to Herndon in mid-February as FroZenYo frozen yogurt moves into Woodland Park Crossing off of Sunrise Valley Drive.
