Five Things To Know This Week

A few pieces of information to help you get through the week

1. The Paint Herndon Competition took place over Labor Day weekend but art lovers can still experience the event, which had an agricultural theme. The in the Macintyre ArtLab at ArtSpace Herndon.

2. The meets on Tuesday night at 7:15 p.m. at Tortilla Factory to celebrate folk music and local musicians. Each Tuesday features open mike and other special events, such as concerts and showcases. Folk Club is for both performers and listeners alike.

3. The Herndon Neighborhood Resource Center is hosting a on Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at 1086 Elden St. The workshop will include information on preventative home maintenance and small-scale repair techniques to help homeowners avoid costly repairs.

4. Jimmy’s Old Town Tavern will feature Stacy Thiele and Billy Trussell as from 6-10 p.m. as they raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The evening will include raffles, prizes and more, and live band rock-n-roke (live band karaoke) starts at 9 p.m.

5. The on Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at Aol’s headquarters. The event will include Caren Merrick (R) and Barbara Favola (D), who are running for 31st senate district; Mark Herring (D) and Patricia Phillips (R), who are running for 33rd senate district; and Dick Black (R) and Shawn Mitchell (D), who are running for 13th senate district.
