Five Things to Know This Week

Five things happening in Herndon this week

1. The Herndon Town Council and Planning Commission will hold a joint work session on Tuesday to review the status of the 2011-2016 Capital Improvement Program. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and the regular Town Council work session will follow the joint meeting.

2. Herndon High School’s drama and chorus programs will present a on Jan. 20, 22, 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the High School auditorium. They will perform selections from Broadway musicals such as Smokey Joe’s Café, Hair, She Loves Me, Sunday in the Park with George, Bye Bye Birdie, Legally Blonde and others.

3. The Syndicate is hosting its first in Reston at Syrah Restaurant at the Sheraton Reston on Friday. The inaugural speaker will be Brady Roman, director of leasing for Atlantic Realty Companies, who will present “What You Should Expect with Your Next Lease Negotiation.”

4. will support Herndon High School’s All-Night Grad Party on Saturday night. The party is an adults-only evening that will include roulette, black jack, Texas Hold ‘Em and more. Casino winnings will be converted to raffle tickets for chances at prizes and a silent auction will be held.

5. Friday will be full of meetings on Herndon’s future Metro station. In the morning town officials will meet with commercial property owners and managers from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A brief presentation by the town’s consultants will be followed by a group discussion. Later in the day the Town Council and Planning Commission will meet from 1-6 p.m. to discuss the Herndon Metrorail station area plan. Both meetings will be held at the Herndon Fortnightly Library.
