Fairfax County Under Tornado Watch

The watch is in effect through 10 p.m.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch Thursday for the Fairfax County area.

The watch is in effect through 10 p.m.

Low pressure and a cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms to the area late this afternoon, NWS says, some of them "capable of producing damaging wind gusts."

Heavy rain fall, along with possible large hail, could create flash flooding in some areas.

Accuweather.com shows thunderstorms beginning in the Fairfax City area around 3 p.m.

Patch will update this story as more information becomes available.
