Fairfax County Home Sales, Prices Slightly Down

Numbers show drop from July 2010

Home sales across Fairfax County in July were down slightly compared to a year before, with average and median sales prices also posting a slight decline.

The Sun Gazette reports a total of 1,244 homes changed hands across the county last month, according to figures reported Aug. 10 by RealEstate Business Intelligence, an arm of the local multiple-listing service.

That’s down 3.1 percent from the 1,284 homes that sold in Fairfax during July 2010.

The average sales price of homes that sold during the month was $485,349, down 3.3 percent from the $501,672 reported for homes that sold in July 2010. 

While sales prices of single-family homes were down 5.5 percent from a year ago, townhouse prices were up about 3 percent and condo prices were up 5.5 percent.
