Stand Up!

Blog #5- Stand Up!

In my last post I left off with describing how a stranger became a father figure and the voice of a now Amazing Friend became my safety in an unfamiliar world.  Today, on a 9/11/2013, I can’t help but to think to myself this….

What if we all stood up and shared our stories to encourage others that suffer from loss, heart-break, and loneliness?    Just today I received a phone call from a person that is going through a difficult time and he told me my story inspired him.  What he does not know…or soon will from reading this is that he inspired me and reminded me that I am not alone in my fear and anxiety.  If we just spent more time focusing on what we do have and less on what we don’t have. We would live much happier lives.  I say “we” as I have lots of times where I think people are so lucky for being able to see their loved ones or drive their child to soccer practice.  Heck, I have days where I would just like to walk out my front door and not have to think where the 2 steps are so I don’t face plant.

In life, I truly believe it is when we start living to help others that our passion is found.

I ask you today to think about this and extend a smile to someone that could really use it.  Especially on this particular day where the United States remembers a tragedy, but also became a family.

To my new friend…thank you for the call today and warming my heart.  I promise you life will be good.  Just because you can’t see the sun for the clouds does not mean it is not there waiting to shine.
