Summary Description

Directs the day to day operations of Floris UMC Preschool, including overseeing the financial

transactions, managing the teaching and administrative staff and planning and implementing programs that support the philosophy and goals of the Preschool.

Responsibilities

Direct the teachers in the planning and implementation of a curriculum that is developmentally

appropriate, child initiated and reflects the core values of Floris UMC Preschool. Provide direction to teachers on creating and maintaining a learning environment that is physically and emotionally

conducive to optimum growth and development and meets all safety requirements.

Oversee the finical operations of the Preschool, including preparation of the annual budget, presenting

recommended budget to the Board for approval, preparing financial reports and analyses, operating the Preschool within budget and depositing tuition and fees promptly.

Manage the Preschool’s teaching and administrative staff, including recruitment, training and

development, conducting performance evaluations and recommending annual pay increase. Create a work environment that is team-oriented both internal to the Preschool as well as with the Floris United

Methodist Church staff. Supervise outside service providers such as bookkeeper, lawyer and payroll accountant.

Communicate and enforce the Preschool’s policies and procedures, including all safety and health

rules to ensure the safety of each child in the building and on the playground. Recommend new policies and procedures as necessary.

Develop and implement a preschool program that meets all state licensing and accreditation

standards. Keep current with the changing state standards and make program changes as necessary.

Provide support to the teachers when necessary in communicating to parents and child’s

developmental progress, as well as any concerns, and in addressing behavior problems.

Communicate Preschool’s goals and activities to parents. Respond to inquiries and provide problem resolution when necessary.

Attend Floris UMC Preschool Board meetings and Floris United Methodist Church staff meetings.

Perform other duties as outlined in the staff Handbook, and as assigned by the Floris UMC Preschool Board.
