Summary Description

The Children’s Ministries Coordinator works with the Kid Nation team to ensure that children in preschoolthrough grade 5 have many opportunities to increase their knowledge of God and deepen their relationship with Jesus. This position works under the direction of the Children’s Ministries Director to develop, communicate and implement Kid Nation programs and events.

Responsibilities

Following the direction and guidance of the Children’s Ministries Director, this position is responsible for:

1. The coordination, development and implementation of faith growing opportunities for children in preschool through grade 5 both on Sunday mornings and special faith development programs in Kid Nation Ministries.

2. Works with the Children’s Ministries Director to ensure evangelistic opportunities within children’s programming, including the family festivals, summer camps and special events.

3. Establishes organizational processes including but not limited to updating communications both electronic and printed, ensuring safety policies and procedures are followed, tracking attendance of participants and volunteers, maintaining supplies, facilities usage, and communication coordination.

4. Recruitment, training, and support of volunteers to include but not limited to communicating ministry information, providing needed supplies, following up with questions and/or concerns as they arise. Understanding that the volunteers are the people through which ministry is accomplished and an integral part of the Kid Nation Team, the Children’s Ministries Coordinator develops relationships with volunteers.

5. Attends all necessary meetings as directed by the Children’s Ministries Director and the Director of Grow Ministries in order to ensure that when dealing with internal affairs and making day to day management decisions that they are in-line with the Senior Pastor’s overall vision and direction of the Kid Nation Ministries.

Qualifications and Aptitudes

BA or equivalent.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in directing a large program area that required using a diverse set of administrative skills to manage a large and expanding program involving children.

Knowledge of theory and techniques required to manage and maintain a vital children’s ministry in a large church.

Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production.

A broad understand of Christian principals is essential for purposes of researching evaluating Sunday school curriculum, to ensure clarify and strength of United Methodist values.
