Find something to do with the family in Herndon this weekend.

Looking for things to do during the last week of 2011? Look no further. Here's a variety of events leading up to the New Year.

This afternoon, bring your child and head to the Frying Pan Farm Park Visitors Center. Children must be Master Puppeteer Bob Brown will give a holiday presentation of the Snow Show. This Winter Wonderland features a variety of lively marionettes. Shows start at 10 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. Admission is $4 per person.

Thursday evening the Virginia Ballet Company and School will present its 62nd season of the classic Nutcracker ballet. The performance starts at 7 p.m. at the Ernst Community Cultural Center Theater on the Annadale Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. Ticket prices for reserved seating are $30 for adults and $20 for children, students and seniors.

Meanwhile, in McLean a special additional performance has been added to the schedule for Parfumerie for Thursday at 8 p.m. This holiday story about two people falling in love is a comedic performance appropriate for the whole family. Admission is $25 per person, $15 for students.

Herndon Centennial Golf Course will be hosting their annual New Year's Eve Scramble on Sunday. The 4-person scramble has a 10 a.m. shotgun start. The entry fee is $65 and includes green fee, cart fee, range balls, prizes and lunch.

Ring in the New Year at the Ringing In Hope Walk, Run & Fun at the Brambleton Town Center Plaza in You can run, jog, or walk in your choice of 1K, 5K or 10K. Not only will you be making a healthy start to the New Year, your participation will ring in hope for local charities and the people they serve in your community. Registration starts at 8 a.m., the fees range from $8-$30.

The Breeze Restaurant in Herndon is hosting their ! There will be family style dining from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Then at 9 p.m., rock in 2012 with “The Big Guise” Band and a late night, six course meal. Call to make reservations.

For another family friendly night out, check out the . From 7 to 9 p.m. there will be hands on art activities and storytelling for children. There will also be a bonfire that’s alcohol free. After the early evening events the adults can stick around for live music, desserts, and a midnight champagne toast that will begin 10:30 p.m. It costs $20 per person.
