End of the Line for More than 100 Silver Line Workers

Bechtel hopes to place workers on other projects.

As Bechtel Corp. finishes work on the first phase of the Silver Line project, the Reston-based company is planning to lay off 117 workers by the end of the year, The Washington Business Journal reports.

The company said in a filing made public Wednesday under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, or WARN, that the layoffs from subsidiary Bechtel Infrastructure Corp. will begin in phases starting July 26, the Journal reported.

Bechtel told the Business Journal it hopes to transfer as many of the affected workers as possible to other projects given the time and training the company invested in those workers.
