NWFCU, FAN Make Donations to Fairfax Library Foundation

Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation and FAN each donated $1,000 to the Library Foundation.

Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation and the Financial Awareness Network each donated $1,000 to the Fairfax Library Foundation in December to help purchase books on financial education for Fairfax County Public Libraries.

The Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation is the philanthropic and community-oriented foundation of NWFCU, which has offices in Herndon.

"We are incredibly grateful and thrilled to receive a donation from these two organizations," said Susan Harman, executive director of Fairfax Library Foundation in a press release.

"A gift like this truly is a win for everyone: NWFCU Foundation and FAN, Inc, make great strides in Fairfax County in regards to their mission of spreading financial education knowledge, while Fairfax Library Foundation makes a great stride in our mission of enhancing the library," Harman said.

NWFCU Foundation's Executive Director Linda Rogus, who is also the president of FAN, presented the donations to the Fairfax Library Foundation.

"We have been partnering with the Library Foundation since 2007 by providing funding to purchase financial education genre (or themed) books for students and adults," Rogus said in a press release.

"In today’s economy everyone needs to advocate for self-awareness and our local libraries provide the tools that the citizens of Fairfax county can use to learn about money management tools including preparing a budget, planning for short and long term goals, saving for a home, college or unexpected emergencies," Rogus said. "Both NWFCU Foundation and the Financial Awareness Network, Inc. are committed to financial education and happy to partner with Fairfax Library Foundation."
