New Peruvian Restaurant 'Waku Chicken' Opens in Herndon

Another new restaurant has its ribbon cut and opens for business in the Town of Herndon.

Another new gastronomic adventure has moved into town, to the delight of residents and Town officials - say hello to Waku Chickena new Peruvian restaurant located at 458 Elden St., in the former Five Guys Burgers and Fries location.

Mayor Lisa Merkel was on hand for a ribbon cutting to celebrate Waku Chicken's grand opening on Saturday.

The restaurant is casual, with customers ordering at the counter and given a number.

Locals are already singing the restaurant's praises on Yelp.com, calling it the "best Peruvian chicken outside of Lima."

"This place is fantastic! My husband and I had been going to Tysons to get good Peruvian chicken before, but now we have a place that's so much closer to us," Jackie K. said on Yelp.com. "Waku Chicken has outstanding chicken that is bursting with flavor and a healthy selection of sides that will satisfy any palate. The portions are great for the price you're charged and the service is very fast."

Other reviewers are praising several of the menu items; in particular, the carmelized plantains, ceviche, lomo saltado, chicken anticucho, chirimoya for dessert, and more.

"What a great addition to Herndon," said Cris P. of Herndon. "I wish them success, my family and I will certainly will visit quite often."
