McDonald Chosen as New Northwest Federal Credit Union CEO

Chris McDonald will take over as Northwest Federal Credit Union's CEO in January.

board of directors announced it has selected Chris McDonald as its new CEO, after Gerrianne D. "Winky" Burks retires in mid-January. 

Burks has worked at NWFCU for 41 years. McDonald has worked in the credit union industry for more than 28 years. He started his career as a state regulator before becoming the vice president of finance and information systems at First Community Credit Union in Houston. 

McDonald has also worked for credit unions in Texas and Maryland, including as the CEO of Andrews Federal Credit Union in Suitland, MD. He is expected to join NWFCU in September to make the transition a smooth one.

“The board is looking forward to having Chris McDonald join NWFCU," said Chairman Tom Conroy in a press release. "His proven track record and solid reputation in the industry speak very highly to his professional capabilities and to the leadership he will provide Northwest Federal Credit Union in the future.” 

“I have known Winky Burks for several years and have seen NWFCU progress and grow under her leadership" McDonald said in the press release. "I am extremely proud and honored to be joining the NWFCU family. I have tremendous respect for Winky and for the outstanding legacy she has built. I anticipate a smooth transition and the continuation of the traditions of great service and financial strength that Northwest members expect.”
