It's Farmers Market Season in Herndon!

PATCH CLIPS: The Thursday morning market is underway, and off to a great start, the Town says.

Fresh air, sunshine, delicious food, beautiful flowers and plants - and yes, of course, plenty of free samples!

All of that spells farmers market season, and it's already underway in Herndon.

Herndon's weekly farmers market is now open for the 2013. It takes place every Thursday morning from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the corner of Elden and Station streets downtown, across from Dairy Queen and the W&OD caboose.

Town of Herndon spokesperson Anne Curtis said the new hours allow people both to grab a few things on their way to work in the morning as well as pop over during their lunch hour - as many people were seen doing this week, when it finally stopped raining and the sun came out for a while.

This year's theme is "Get Your Fresh ON," in keeping with the town's new branding slogan. Rows of vendors are selling everything from made-from-scratch salsa and guacamole, to herbs and other locally-grown produce, bakery-fresh pastries and breads, to flowers and other plants, and much more.

The Town is planning lots of goodies to make this year's season even better, Curtis said, such as chef demonstrations coming soon, Farmers Market Fun Days" for the whole family, and live entertainment, which kicked off this week with bluesy folk artist Crys Matthews (catch her in the video above!).
