HK Lee Student Travels to Korea

Local resident Ashley Handy, 10, got to travel to the Republic of Korea over the summer for the World Tae Kwon Do Culture Expo.

She was sponsored by her instructor at Herndon's H.K. Lee Academy of Tae Kwon Do. She distinguished herself with a bronze medal in her division at the international event.

Ashley's father, Col. Quincy Handy, is the deputy commander of the 352nd Civil Affairs Command and also practices tae kwon do. Both the Handys competed at the event, which was held in South Korea's North Jeolla province in July.
