Green Lizard Cycling Coming to Downtown Herndon

The business has leased the Nachman Building in downtown Herndon.

A coffee shop and cycling store is coming to downtown Herndon.

Mayor Lisa Merkel announced Friday afternoon that Green Lizard Cycling, a bike shop and espresso bar will be opening in the Nachman Building on Lynn Street this spring.

Most recently the Chabad of Reston-Herndon used the building. The Nachman Building is also known for being the first in Herndon to take part in the Council for the Arts of Herndon's downtown mural project.

What else would you like to see come to downtown Herndon?

This will help cyclists who need mechanical help within site of the Trail & get folks to actually stop & shop in Herndon! Doug Landau

Good point Doug. Maybe Herndon residents can help the new store owner by placing hazards like tacks on the trail so when riders get flat tires they will be right next to then new store.

Take a look at how many folks park at the Municipal lot to go out for a bike ride on the W&OD every weekend. It will be great to have a local shop to lead rides and help advocate for a bike-friendly Herndon.

Haha, the store may be appreciative of the business, but I'm not sure about the cyclists, Dave. :)
Dave Webster December 03, 2012 at 01:10 AM
True Leslie. Maybe there are better ways to help Herndon businesses.

I think I'll just buy my new bike from there to show my support :) Now, if I can just wait until Spring :/

You guys picked an excellent location! During the weekend there are local rides that leave from the parking lot. During the summer, there is a Wednesday and Thursday club ride from the lot also. Cant wait, even though I dont drink coffee anymore :(

Excellent. Can't think of a better business for the location. Definitely will have my business. Green Lizard, what brands of bikes will you start off with?
Green Lizard Cycling December 05, 2012 at 10:25 PM
We've lined up Cannondale, Scott and Raleigh. We will also carry many great brands of accessories and nutrition!

Dave is a great guy, and as someone who has worked side by side with him, I know he will provide top notch product and service!
Gary Miller February 16, 2013 at 10:16 PM
This is exciting! Even I thought about opening an independent coffee shop / juice bar downtown for cyclists. With HPC caddy-corner, Herndon could become a hub for cyclists, pun intended.
Green Lizard Cycling February 16, 2013 at 11:42 PM
Actually, Gary Miller, HPC is moving in with us so you won't even have to cross the street to have access to some of the finest trainers in the area!
