Cox Holds Solutions Store Grand Opening, Launches Wireless Service

The Cox Solutions Store will provide customers the chance to try out products, learn about products, purchase accessories, pay bills and more.

Cox Communications held the grand opening of its new Cox Solutions Store, as well as the launch of a new product—Cox Wireless—in Herndon on Saturday.

The store, located at its offices at 3080 Centreville Rd., is in the space where the company previously had a service office for cable, Internet and phone customers.

The new retail space offers information on products, such as cable, Internet and phone service. It also offers accessories for the products it sells, such as HDMI cables, and a learning lounge to help customers take better advantage of their services.

“Throughout our new Solutions Store, customers will learn how easy it is to use many of the features and services of Cox Wireless, leaving with personalized knowledge that makes them feel excited and empowered in the wireless world,” said Allen Roberts, vice president of operations for Cox Virginia.

“The state-of-the-art facility will be a totally new experience to our customers,” Roberts said. He said Cox is excited to continue to strengthen its presence in Northern Virginia by opening more Solutions Store locations later this year.

Mike Leone, director of public affairs for Cox in Northern Virginia, said the retail solutions store is a new concept, providing another way to give service to customers. He said with the new Cox Wireless service, local customers can integrate all their bills to include their communications devices.

The wireless service also has other advantages for Cox customers, Leone said. With certain wireless products, they can log into their Cox account and watch television from their device. They can also log into the Cox mobile application to pay their bill, schedule their DVR to record shows, check the local weather and more.

The wireless service operates on Sprint’s network, however billing, customer service, purchasing phones and service to phones is all completed through Cox.

Customers must have at least one Cox service, whether it’s cable, Internet or phone, to be able to receive wireless service. Those with wireless service also get perks, such as an upgrade to their Internet service, choice of a movie channel for their cable, or free long distance to their landline phone, said Cox Director of Retail, Stephanie Dewald.

Leone said the Herndon Cox Solutions Store is the model that will be used by Cox across the country. He said they also have a kiosk in the Fair Oaks mall.

The grand opening event included a ribbon cutting with local officials, a plaque presentation by the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce, product demonstrations, goodies, giveaways and more.

Fairfax County Sully district Supervisor Michael Frey said the Chantilly and Centreville area has been full of growth over the past few years that he has been pleased to see, and new ventures such as Cox’s Solutions Store add jobs to the local economy. He said it’s great to see companies like Cox use new technologies to better their communities.

Del. Ken Plum (D-36) said the store will help Cox customers receive better service, where they can talk to real employees and test out services and products before purchasing them. He said residents in his area will be pleased with the addition to Cox’s services. He also commended Cox for its corporate citizenship.
