Roughly 3,000 Without Power in Herndon Area

UPDATE 12:18 P.M.: According to Dominion Power's website, the number of customers in the Herndon area without power is down from nearly 3,000 to just 347.

However, the estimated time for full restoration is now between 2 and 4 p.m.

UPDATE 11:07 A.M.: It appears the power is slowly starting to come back on in Herndon. Dominion Power's website indicates the original number of customers without power is down to 1,289, from nearly 3,000 around 9:30 a.m.

However, the estimated time of full restoration is still indicated to be between noon and 2 p.m.

UPDATE 9:41 A.M.: Dominion Power's website indicates the cause has been determined to be a power line that was damaged.

Estimated time of power restoration has now been updated to between noon and 2 p.m.

According to Dominion Power's website, roughly 3,000 are without power in the Herndon area, plus another 630 or so throughout Fairfax County.

Dominion's website indicates the exact cause is still under investigation.

The website indicates power should be restored to all customers by between 10 a.m. and noon today.

Herndon residents were taking to social media Saturday morning wondering what was going on.

"Why is there only one streetlight working in Herndon?" a Twitter user named James asked.

"Seriously, what's up with the electricity in Herndon?" Twitter user Virginia Perez asked.

"Half of Herndon is out of power, but Bach to Rock is still open today! Come in to get out of the heat!" the local business tweeted.
