There are plenty of activities happening in Herndon this weekend, from great date night options, to educational opportunities for teens, to family friendly events.  

THURSDAY 

•  at Reston Community Center’s CenterStage. The program will include a mix of styles, including works choreographed by Michael Shannon.

•  on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Herndon students will showcase their talents with top hats, canes, flashy costumes and more. Ticket sales start at 6:30 p.m. each night. 

•  on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights this weekend, closing out Elden Street Players’ run of the show. Performances are at 8 p.m. each night.

FRIDAY 

•  on Friday night. Families that come for open swim from 6-10 p.m. can bring their pool floats and play on “Swampson.”

• Friday night. Does your teen enjoy cooking? Do you want them to learn a few skills before college? Learn how to make shrimp lo-mein and chicken fajitas. Registration is required by today (Feb. 16). 

SATURDAY 

•  on Saturday to celebrate expanding the free monthly book program to the 20171 zip code of the Herndon area. The program provides free books to children from birth to age 4½. The kickoff starts at 10 a.m. at Aspen Jewelers. 

•  Theater for Young Audiences, will have a show on Saturday at 11 a.m. The children’s play features the stories of Cinderella, Rapunzel and Snow White from the prince’s points of view. 

SUNDAY 

• by the duo Katy Benko and Julie Crosson to Frying Pan Farm Park on Sunday. The pair performs music that reflects the political and musical influences of the 60s, when rock and roll music was evolving with social change.
