Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival Offers Fun for Kids

Free activities in Children's Tent at the 21st Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival this weekend.

Thekicks off at this weekend and there will be a host of free activities for children to get creative. 

Art and music will work in harmony as young visitors can create music-related art projects inspired by the International Contemporary Ensemble. They can also get a preview of the many children's educational programs offered by

Explore More! Art Buckets - Explore More! is GRACE's educational program tied to the exhibitions in the GRACE gallery aimed at younger children.

Try out an Art Bucket that was designed specifically for this year's Festival which includes a musical egg shaker, tambourine and play dough.

GRACE Art Artist Trading Cards - GRACE Art is our art education outreach program in area schools that reaches over 22,000 area children. Create your very own Artist Trading Cards. Keep them for yourself or trade with others. Learn more about bringing this great program to your child's school.

Summer Art Camp Musical Monsters - GRACE offers four weeks of summer art camp (taught by Doug Moulden) followed by an afternoon of Yoga, Art & Nature from Beloved Yoga. Create musical monsters using recycled CDs.

Festival Paper Bag Hats - Make a paper bag hat that will be the talk of the Festival.

Scout Badge Program Musical Instruments - GRACE offers programs for scouts to earn various art badges. Create your own instrument - strum, chime or shake - play it or teach someone else to play it.

Outside the Tent

Community Mural and Chalk Walk - Everyone is welcome to add their artistic mark to the community mural and Chalk Walk located just outside the Children's Art Tent.

The Children's Art Tent is open Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The tent is located in Reston Town Square Park. Admission is FREE.
