Local Teens Tackle Dangers of Social Isolation in Powerful Performance

Fifteen teens from the local area performed their original work 'Respond' in Herndon this past weekend.

 

Dodgeball Theater company's 2013 Teen Ensemble brought their latest work to life this past weekend at the Artory Studio in Herndon.

This year's Teen Ensemble consists of 15 teens age 13-18 from all over the local area, including Herndon, Reston, Great Falls, Vienna, and Sterling.

"They work as an ensemble over an extensive period of time to develop work that captures their artistic point of view through monologues, movement pieces, scenes, music, and even film," explained Dodgeball Theater's director, Haley Murphy.

Murphy said, this year's original production the teen's put together was called "Respond," and addresses the need to connect with other people and the dangers of isolation.

The group gave two performances of the powerful work at the Artory Studio on Saturday and Sunday evenings.

"This is an awesome group this year, and they created a very beautiful show," Murphy said.
