Elden Street Players Wins Big at WATCH Awards
ESP receives 17 awards out of its 32 nominations for its 2010 productions
Herndonโs Elden Street Players won big in this yearโs Washington Area Theater Community Honors awards, bagging 17 awards out of its 32 nominations.
Elden Street Players was honored for outstanding musical for โRentโ and outstanding play for โMetamorphoses.โ
Evan Hoffmann was honored with outstanding direction of a play for โMetamorphosesโ and Todd Huse was awarded outstanding direction of a musical for โRent.โ

During 2010, 121 productions were adjudicated for the WATCH awards, including 35 musicals and 86 plays. Thirty-one community theater companies from around the region participated.
Other awards won by Elden Street Players include: outstanding featured actor in a musical, Mickey Daniel DaGuiso as Angel Dumott Schundard in โRentโ; outstanding hair design in a musical, Laura Fontaine for โRentโ; outstanding light design in a musical, AnnMarie Castrigno for โRentโ; outstanding makeup design in a musical, Laura Fontaine for โRentโ; outstanding music direction, John Michael dโHaviland for โRentโ; outstanding properties in a musical, Theresa Bender and Eliza Wolfe for โRentโ; outstanding set construction in a musical, Marty Sullivan and Bill Behan for โRentโ; outstanding set decoration in a musical, Theresa Bender and Eliza Wolfe for โRentโ; outstanding set design in a musical, Kevin King for โRentโ; outstanding set painting in a musical, Mary Rose Vasko and John Vasko for โRentโ; outstanding sound design in a musical, Stan Harris for โRentโ; outstanding special effects, John Bordeaux and Todd Huse for โRentโ; and outstanding lead actress in a play, Lorraine Magee as Vivian Bearing, Ph.D. in โW;t.โ

Next door the Reston Community Players received two awards of its 13 nominations, including outstanding cameo in a play and outstanding sound design in a musical.
The awards were presented on Sunday, March 6 at The Birchmere in Alexandria. The nominations for the 11th annual WATCH awards were announced back in January.
