Deadline Extended to July 2 for 2nd 'At Home in Herndon' Calendar Photography Competition

ArtSpace and Council for the Arts of Herndon's second annual contest calls for photographs that depict scenes of Herndon in all seasons.

The deadline for the second annual “At Home in Herndon” Town Calendar Photography Competition has been extended to July 2.

Professional and amateur photographers age 16 and older are encouraged to submit entries to the competition. The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2012. All entries must be photographed within the town of Herndon limits and special consideration will be given to entries that include people participating in seasonal or community events, such as town holiday events, community events and festivals.

This year's competition was announced last summer in order to give area photographers more time to photograph Herndon in different seasons and at different events throughout the year.

Photos submitted will be evaluated by a panel of jurors. Finalists will be invited to exhibit their photographs at Herndon’s Post Gallery in late summer or early fall 2012. From the finalists’ photos, the town of Herndon will make its selections for the 2013 “At Home in Herndon” town calendar.

Each year in December the calendar is distributed to more than 10,000 area residents and businesses. Photos printed in the calendar will feature photographers’ names.

In addition to having their photos printed in the town calendar, finalists will be eligible to receive the People’s Choice Award, chosen by patrons as the photograph that best depicts Herndon.
