Whiz Kids of the Week: Daisy Troop 2599

These girls are learning about service and giving back to their community

Daisy Girl Scout Troop 2599

This week’s Whiz Kids include the 10 members of the troop, who are between 5-6 years old. The girls attend Fox Mill Elementary School in Herndon.

Nominator and troop leader, Amy Fujii, says the girls are learning about serving in the community so they can be prepared to provide community service. The girls have helped make bag lunches for Reston Interfaith to serve at the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, and they have made cards for soldiers in Afghanistan.

Additionally, each girl in the troop is maxing birthday boxes, which include all the supplies needed to hold a birthday party, to donate to Food for Others. They’ll donate Girl Scout Cookies to Alternative House and learn about nonprofits as well.

Fujii says their key to awesomeness is being Daisy Girl Scouts. “As first-year Daisy Girls Scouts, the girls are focused on both learning and living the Girl Scout Law, which includes the very important tenets of being kind and considerate and helping others,” she said.
