'Title Transformation' Contest Winners Begin Their Journey

Meet the winners of the contest Herndon Patch hosted with Title Boxing Club of Herndon this past month.

Two very excited people walked through the doors of the Title Boxing Club of Herndon on Friday.

Now, mind you, most people who walk through those doors are excited, because they get a great workout and relief from stress, employees say.

However, these two ladies were perhaps especially excited on Friday.

That's because they're the winners of Herndon Patch and Title Boxing Club's recent Title Transformation Contest.

For the contest, Title Boxing pledged to give one lucky winner a complete personal weight loss, health and fitness package that promises to transform them in 12 weeks through regular cardio kickboxing classes, a healthy meal plan, and the support and guidance of head trainer Donald Poindexter.

But, Poindexter is just so excited to help the people of the Herndon-Reston area get healthy and fit, he couldn't help but choose two winners, he said.

Meet Jennifer Hofmann and Stacy Barnett.

Stacy Barnett is a contractor for the State Department as well as an election judge for Fairfax County. She has been happily married to her husband for six years and they have a 4-year-old son together.

Barnett told Patch she has struggled with her weight in the past and was inspired to make a change earlier this year. Just working out at home and trying to eat better, she has managed to lose 30 pounds on her own—but then she hit a plateau, she said, which is when she decided to enter the Title Transformation Contest.

"I need to try something new, to really give my progress a kick in the pants," she said.

"I'm nervous, terrified, excited. All of those," she said of when she heard she was one of the two winners, and came to meet Poindexter at the club for their first meeting Friday. "I can't believe I'm doing this."

Jennifer Hofmann works for the American Society of Civil Engineers in Reston, and is a grad student at George Washington University, studying education technology and leadership.

Hofmann said she entered the contest because she thought the program could help increase her confidence, as well as challenge herself because cardio kickboxing is something she's never tried before.

"I've been going to the gym for so long, I felt I needed to try something new that will have a greater effect on my body," she said. "And, I really want to increase my upper-body strength."

Hofmann said she was thrilled to find out she was a winner.

"I'm excited, and I'm nervous," she said.

Poindexter was excited and pumped up to meet with his two winners for the first time on Friday.

"I am so excited for our winners," Poindexter said. "I just know that over these next few months they are going to see and feel changes that they never thought were possible. They will eat more than ever and watch the weight come off the way nature intended."

Poindexter said one of his goals for the two ladies is to get them in such good shape, they will be ready to run a 5k together by the end of their 12 weeks.

"I can't wait to see where this amazing journey will land Jennifer and Stacy," he said.

Patch will check in with Jennifer and Stacy once a month for their three-month 'Title Transformation' program to see the progress they make with Donald. Stay tuned!
