Show Them You Care—Nominate Someone for Herndon's 'Good Neighbor Award'

The person next door who is always ready to help with neighborhood fix-it projects. The neighbor down the street who can be counted on to look after pets or keep watch on homes when owners are on vacation. The friend across the way who never fails to offer a smile, a wave, a hello – and a helping hand.

These are the good neighbors for whom the Town of Herndon is renowned—and these are the citizens who are celebrated with the town's annual Good Neighbor Award. 

Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2013 award. The deadline for submissions is Nov. 8.

Residents of the town may nominate a family member, friend or neighbor who makes "noteworthy contributions toward the quality of life in their neighborhoods," Town representatives said. 

Recipients of the Good Neighbor Award must be residents of the Town of Herndon and the act or acts for which they are nominated may not have been performed as a part of paid employment. 

Good Neighbor Award recipients will be recognized by the Mayor and Town Council at an upcoming public meeting and will receive a commemorative gift.

The Good Neighbor Award is produced as part of the Town of Herndon’s Cultivating Community Initiative, a program designed to encourage beautification and enrich the quality of life in the town’s neighborhoods. All programs are developed through the input of citizen volunteers.

Nomination forms for the 2013 Good Neighbor Award are available on the “Cultivating Community” page of the town’s website. 

Forms are also available at the Herndon Municipal Center, 777 Lynn St., and the Herndon Community Center, 814 Ferndale Ave.
