Second Annual Dominion Trail Mix to Take Over W&OD

Hail the Trail right here in Herndon or at Trailfest in Ashburn.

The second Dominion Trail Mix will take place Saturday and will include a trail cleanup project, a walk/run/bike event as well as a festival and health expo.

Trail Mix begins with Hail the Trail, the largest cleanup project to ever happen on the W&OD Trail. Hundreds of area community members will take to the trail from Loudoun County to Arlington County to beautify and clean the trail. 

In Herndon volunteers will meet at the Train Depot downtown from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to gather and clean the trail. Signup can be found online at www.dominiontrailmix.com

After the morning's trail cleanup, participants can head to Farmwell Station Middle School in Ashburn to take part in The Great Skedaddle where they can walk, run or bike along the W&OD Trail in Loudoun County. All ages and fitness levels are welcome. The Great Skedaddle begins at 10:30 a.m.

Finally, the entire event will converge on Farmwell Middle School for a celebration of the W&OD with the Anthem Presents Trailfest and Living Well Expo. The afternoon will include active lifestyle activities, food, fun, entertainment and a performance by American Idol's Lauren Alaina. Trailfest and the Living Well Expo take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dominion Trail Mix takes place rain or shine and proceeds will benefit the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority's Nature Nuts Program. Farmwell Station Middle School is located at 442812 Gloucester Pkwy in Ashburn.
