Photos: O'Sullivan's Event for Damien Scanlan a Success

Another fundraiser will be held at Ashburn Pub Monday night.

The fundraiser in honor of Damien Scanlan at O'Sullivan's Irish Pub downtown Thursday was "a huge success," said manager Enda Browne.

The pub donated 100 percent of sales from opening to closing Thursday to "Damien's Fund," to help cover the costs of Scanlan's casket and a flight home to Ireland, where he can be buried near family.

"We raised well over what we expected, thanks to all the local businesses in Herndon and the surrounding area," Browne reported.

Scanlan, who died Jan. 17, was a popular employee at O'Sullivan's, and a beloved face around Herndon. He was originally from Knockaderry in County Limerick, Ireland, according to friends online.

Another fundraiser is being held at Ashburn Pub, 44110 Ashburn Village Blvd. in Ashburn, on Monday night, when Jimmy Cirrito of Jimmy's Old Town Tavern will be guest bartending from 8 to 10 p.m.
