Photos: Have You Seen the New Umbrella Tables Downtown?

New umbrella tables for lounging or eating lunch were recently installed in front of Old Town Hall downtown.

If you've been downtown recently, you may have noticed something new.

The Town recently installed new tables with bright-red umbrellas, bearing the new town logo and slogan "Herndon - It's On," in the square in front of Old Town Hall.

In the past two weeks or so since they were installed, locals have taken advantage on many an afternoon to lounge, chat and eat lunch on the new tables, which are close to Green Lizard Cycling and their coffee bar.

Last Wednesday, Aug. 29, Herndon Mayor Lisa Merkel and Town Councilmember Melissa Jonas posted photos of the new tables on their Facebook pages.

"All day they were filled with people eating lunch, reading, and chatting!" Mayor Merkel posted.

"People are really enjoying our new tables and umbrellas downtown!" Jonas posted. "Got to talk to a lovely resident of our town who told me how much she loved the vibe that has begun and the businesses that have come here recently. So nice to hear!"
