WUSA9 anchor JC Hayward welcomed Town of Herndon Mayor Lisa Merkel onto her show Tuesday night to dish about the town's vibrant restaurant scene.

Hayward talked about some of the town's recent accolades - Bloomberg Business Week recently named Herndon one of the best places to raise a family, Forbes called it one of America's friendliest towns, and CNN Money called it one of the best places to live in America - before touching upon the subject of the day, Herndon's restaurants.

"We know people don't think of Herndon when they think about dining, but we want people to know, we are the place to be," Merkel said in the broadcast.

"If you want a cookie-cutter experience, Herndon's not for you. But if you want a family-owned, or locally owned, or you want to try one of our 25 different ethnic cuisines, come on out," Merkel continued.

During the broadcast, photos of some of Herndon's restaurants and up-close views of food-filled plates were broadcast, such as pastries from the popular Amphora's Bakery.

"You've got fabulous restaurants, not far from Washington, D.C.," Hayward said.

Merkel described the town's new website, DineOnHerndon.com, on which those looking for a good restaurant can search for exactly what they're looking for.

Diners can search by restaurant name, restaurant category, type of cuisine, location, delivery, price range and more, as well as restaurant details and other useful links.
