Local Organization, DASH, Wins Online Honors

The organization was created to help teens facing dating abuse

Lynne and Andy Russell’s organization, Dating Abuse Stops Here, recently announced it has been honored with two digital media and communications awards.

The organization, known as DASH, won a bronze award in the 13th annual Web Health Awards program for offering an online resource dedicated to preventing dating abuse among teens. The Web Health Awards competition is held twice each year and recognizes the best digital consumer health programs in the country.

DASH was also honored with the Silver Award of Distinction from the International Academy of the Visual Arts for the interactive category at the 17th annual Communicator Awards. Thousands of entries were turned in from around the globe. The Communicator Awards are the largest, most competitive program that honors creative excellence for those in the communications field.

“We are delighted and honored to be selected as a winner in both of these prestigious competitions,” said Lynne Russell. “It’s a tribute to the hard work of everyone involved, and we are further inspired to bring my daughter’s voice into the present, and future.”

DASH was created after the Russell’s daughter, 19-year-old Siobhan Russell, was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in the spring of 2009. To keep her spirit alive they decided to create an organization that .
