Herndon Resident Named New Head of Bishop Ireton High School

Dr. Thomas Curry began his tenure at Bishop Ireton on Wednesday.

Bishop Loverde recently appointed Herndon resident Dr. Thomas Curry to be the new Head of School at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria.

Dr. Curry replaces longtime principal Tim Hamer, who retired from Bishop Ireton High School this year. Dr. Curry began his tenure at the school on Wednesday.

Dr. Curry is a graduate of Paul VI High School in Fairfax City. He studied at Boston College, where he received his masters and doctorate degree. Dr. Curry also holds a Nonprofit Management Certificate from Marymount University. He is certified in the Lasallian School Leadership Program and has been teaching at St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C. for the past 12 years.

Dr. Curry lives in Herndon with his wife and two children. 

"I am grateful to Bishop Loverde and Sister Bernadette for this opportunity," Dr. Curry said in a press release. "I look forward to working with the Office of Catholic Schools and the community at Bishop Ireton to ensure its advancement and success as a faith-filled environment that provides its students with an exceptional academic foundation enlivened by their encounter with the risen Christ."
