Grab & Go Kids Planner: Benefits, Bingo and Books

If you’re looking for something to do with the kids in the next few days, we’ve got a few ideas.

  • Where/when: Friday, March 18 from 6-9 p.m. at Herndon High School, 700 Bennett St., Herndon
  • Why go: You and your family can enjoy a night of prizes from the Redskins, McCormick & Schmick’s, Great Harvest Bread, The Spy Museum and more. $25 family packs include pizza, beverages and bingo cards for four people to play all night and proceeds benefit the Pride of Herndon band.
  • Price: $25 for a family pack

  • Where/when: Friday and Saturday, , from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, from 1-4 p.m., at Reston Library, 11925 Bowman Towne Dr., Reston
  • Why go: Friends of Reston Regional Library will have many children’s books on sale from baby books through teen titles. Teaching materials will also be available for sale and proceeds benefit the Reston Library.
  • Price: Depends on how many books you buy

  • Where/when: Saturday, March 19 from 7 a.m. to noon behind the Herndon Police Station, 397 Herndon Pkwy., Herndon
  • Why go: This is a great way to introduce children to fishing and tackle and equipment will be available for children to use. Trout Unlimited will help children clean and store the fish they catch and volunteers will help teach kids how to bait, cast, hook and cook fresh fish for dinner.
  • Price: $6

  • Where/when: Saturday, March 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Claude Moore Rec Center, 46104 Loudoun Park Ln., Sterling.
  • Why go: Fit Kids at the Claude Moore Recreation Center are partnering with Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative to help get kids more active in recreation and sports. The event will focus on hiking, biking, skating, canoeing, kayaking and other activities.
  • Price: Free

  • Where/when: Sunday, March 20 at 3 p.m., at South Lakes High School, 11400 South Lakes Dr., Reston.
  • Why go: Performing arts students from South Lakes High School are hosting a benefit for Cindy Martin, a Herndon hair stylist and Reston resident who recently died of brain cancer. The event benefits the National Brain Tumor Society and Imerman Angels.
  • Price: $15
