1. OPERATION FIREFLY

Why Go: Bring a picnic and enjoy family play time and learning about the fireflies.

2. BACK TO SCHOOL HEALTH FAIR FOR UNINSURED/UNDER-INSURED CHILDREN
Where/When: 13525 Dulles Technology Dr, Herndon, VA 20171; Saturday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Why Go: This fait benefits low income children in need of physicals and immunizations to enter school for the first time.
Pricing: Open to All

3. STAND UNITED AGAINST HUNGER
Where/When: 11911 Freedom Drive, Reston, VA; Friday 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Why Go: Come out and donate your non-perishable food and or cash to benefit Reston Interfaith! Help us fill the pantry before the holidays are here again. Organizers plan to create a giant American Flag using your canned food donation.
Pricing: Free, Benefit

4. TOTALLY TRUCKS
Where/When: 12250 Sunset Hills Road, Reston, 20190; Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. – Noon
Why Go: Bring the kids out to see the Reston Association dump truck, trash truck, back hoe, bobcat and a mowing tractor. Fairfax County Fire & Rescue and Police also have trucks on hand. Each child will receive a truck coloring book.

5. SULLY CIVIL WAR WEEKEND
Where/When: 3650 Historic Sully Way, Chantilly, VA; Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Why Go: Federal and Confederate troops recreate Civil War daily life as re-enactors demonstrate the varied work of the army. Enjoy live music and a fashion show.
Pricing: $8/adult, $6/senior and child

Where/When: 3225 Kinross Cir, Herndon, VA 20171 (Chantilly Highlands Community Center); Friday, Aug. 12 from 6-10 p.m.
Why Go: Check out the local music scene and support local artists by checking out their acoustic show and EP album release party.
Pricing: $3 at the door, CDs are $5 and admission is included in the CD price
