Frying Pan Farm Park Hosts a Traditional Farm Holiday

Frying Pan Farm Park is hosting a traditional holiday on the farm on Saturday, Dec. 3 to culminate its 50-year anniversary.

Frying Pan Farm Park is celebrating the culmination of its 50th anniversary year on Saturday, Dec. 3 with an old-fashioned farm holiday.

The day will include traditional holiday activities from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a giveaway of five free turkeys at 1 p.m. Admission is free, though some activities during the day require a fee.

Frying Pan Farm Park has been owned by Fairfax County Park Authority for the past 50 years. The farm began during the depression era and continues to provide local residents with a look at the county and the farm’s agricultural history.

The traditional farm holiday will include strolling carolers, bonfires, storytellers, a decorated farm house open for tours, blacksmiths demonstrations, beekeeping demonstrations and more.

Additionally children can visit the Kidwell Farm and meet the animals there. There will be English and Western horse riding demonstrations, dog agility demonstrations, and pony rides for $5.

During the event Santa Claus and his sleigh will be available at the barn for attendees to get photographs. A tractor-drawn wagon will provide wagon rides through the park, and a special children’s holiday shopping event will take place at the country store from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Shopping during this special program includes gift wrapping for children, and require pre-registration.
