Five Things To Know This Week

Tuesday's Herndon Town Council meeting has been moved to Wednesday

Herndon Patch has some information to help you through your week!

1. Tuesday’s Herndon Town Council work session meeting has been moved to Wednesday, because council members are taking part in the Virginia Municipal League conference. The meeting will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Mary Ingram Council Chambers, 765 Lynn St. Click here for the agenda.

2. Wednesday is International Walk to School Day. Participating Herndon schools include Clearview, Dranesville and Oak Hill elementary schools. The day encourages students to walk or bike to school, or walk to their bus stops. It encourages physical activity, reduces traffic congestion and pollution.

3.   and registration fees are due on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Personal property taxes are paid on automobiles, trucks, motor homes, motorcycles, trailers, campers, boat, outboard motors, planes and business properties. For more information, visit the Fairfax County Tax Administration website.

4. . They school is welcoming local residents to the school on Saturday, Oct. 8 to view and study the sky and moon at 8 p.m. Participants can bring telescopes or binoculars, or use some of the school’s equipment on loan from the University of Virginia. They’ll also have maps of the moon on hand, along with photography equipment for use. The evening will be held on the athletic fields behind the school.

5. Kids and parents can enjoy a night out with help from the Herndon Community Center. The center’s program is for children ages 5-11 to participate in gym games, arts and crafts, movies and more, while their parents enjoy a night to themselves. Cheese pizza is served at 7 p.m. and a movie begins at 8 p.m. Registration is mandatory. Register for Kids Night Out here.
