Five Things To Know This Week

There's no Herndon Town Council meeting this week; parents looking for a night off can head to the Herndon Community Center.

1. This is the fifth Tuesday in January, so the Herndon Town Council does not have a meeting this week. The next meeting, a work session, will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7 in the Mary Ingram Council Chambers. The next public hearing will be at the same time, in the same location on Feb. 14.

2. For parents looking for a night to themselves, . Children can have a pizza dinner, watch movies, play games and take part in other activities from 6:30-10 p.m. on Friday. Registration is required. 

3. Celebrate Fairfax has a , available to Fairfax County high school seniors. One student will be chosen from each of the county’s supervisory districts, as well as an at-large scholarship. Students will be chosen based on community involvement, academic achievement, extracurricular activities and demonstrated leadership. The deadline is March 23. More details are available here.

5. Calvert Rejuvenations is hosting a on Sunday, Feb. 5. The session will be guided by medium Sheila Cash. The event begins at 2:15 p.m. with 15-minute individual psychic readings and the group meditation begins at 4:30 p.m. .
