Five Things to Know This Week
Look out for National Night Out, The Unicycle Lady and more this week.
It's the start of another long week. Here are a few items that may help you get through it.
1. evening and Herndon neighborhoods are celebrating “America’s night out against crime.” The evening is a way for communities to heighten crime prevention and awareness, and help form police-community partnerships. Herndon Police will be visiting neighborhoods throughout town from 4-8 p.m. Also, because National Night Out is Tuesday, will meet on Wednesday night for its work session.
2. This week’s Farmers Market Fun Days will feature . The Unicycle Lady is a one-woman show with a suitcase full of tricks. She’ll even have her dog Enzo with her. The free show starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Herndon Municipal Center Stage. The last Farmers Market Fun Days show will be Aug. 11.

3. will be performing at this week’s Hunter Mill Night Melodies concert. The Caribbean-American international group is a hit in the D.C.-Baltimore area. The music is influenced by Calypso, Soca, Reggae and Latin Jazz. The show starts at 7:30 Thursday evening.
4. The and clothes is coming up on Aug. 5-7. During those three days certain school supplies, clothing, footwear and other school-related items will be exempt from Virginia sales tax. School supply items must be $20 or less, and clothing and footwear items must cost $100 or less.

5. Fairfax County is looking for foreign language speaking volunteers in the Reston area. The county is seeking a to help an older Reston resident with grocery shopping a few hours a month. They are also seeking a male to visit with an older Reston resident a few times a month.
