Five Things to Know This Week

Five things to help you get through your week

1. The Herndon Town Council is meeting on Tuesday night for its only public hearing this month. The meeting starts at 7 a.m. in the Mary Ingram Council Chambers, at 765 Lynn St., in Herndon.

2. On Wednesday the , a family of wind instruments, will be performing a children’s concert at Frying Pan Farm Park. The performance starts at 10 a.m. and takes children on a musical journey.

3. This week’s will feature the local band, Slightly Something. The band has a unique style and plays improvised jams, sometimes playing as a full band and other times as an acoustic show. Chairs, blankets and dancing are encouraged. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

4. Thursday will be the second in the Town of Herndon’s series. The show will feature Ryan Buckle and Friends, singing about science and creating awesome experiments. The show is free and open to kids of all ages. Don’t forget sunscreen. Ryan Buckle takes the stage at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

5. is looking for volunteer drivers in the Herndon area. Volunteers are needed to deliver meals between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and the commitment can be from one time a month to several times a month. Contact Volunteer Solutions at 703-324-5406 or email DFSAAAvolunteer@fairfaxcounty.gov.
