Five Things to Know This Week

The Week Ahead: See what's going on this week in Herndon and nearby.

1. Looking for one last day of fun before heading back to work and back to school?  Check out the Herndon Labor Day Festival, Monday starting at 12 p.m.  With live music, wine and beer tastings, culinary demonstrations, a craft show and more, there is something for everyone. The Herndon Festival runs from 12 - 6 p.m. and is located on the Town Green at 777 Lynn Street, next to the Municipal Building.  


2.  Don't forget that Tuesday is the first day back to school for Fairfax County Public Schools.  The Fairfax County Police Department wants to remind motorists to make sure to watch for buses and pedestrians and give yourself a little more time in the morning as you are driving to work.

3.  Check out a concert with Caitlin Crosby and Jesse Ruben at Jammin Java, Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 8 p.m.  Tickets are $13.  Jammin Java is located at 227 Maple Ave E. in Vienna.  Visit www.jamminjava.com.

4.  Ready for a new beginning with health and fitness?  The Fall Session at the Health Advantage Yoga Center starts Thursday, Sept. 5.  Check out a free first class for new students.  Health Advantage Yoga Center is located at 1040 Sterling Rd, Suite 202, Herndon. 5. Boulder Crest Retreat in Bluemont is holding its grand opening and public open house Friday, Sept. 6 at 1 p.m.  This 37-acre military and veteran wellness center will provide a peaceful country setting for wounded warriors and their families to reconnect and recover with free recreational activities, programs and private accommodations.
